OUR STORY
The company started its pillars solely in the grow
out production. This required procuring fingerlings from other countries; however, with the
erratic supply and lack of technology available, the company decided to invest in a full-cycle
hatchery so as not to rely on others for the seed stock requirement.
Years of research and experience were dedicated to the bread and
butter of the company, the production of Humpback Grouper. The first step
was to identify protocols that would ensure consistent and quality
production of natural foods – algae, rotifer, copepod – for the fry
production.
The second was to procure and develop broodstocks that
demanded long periods of proper conditioning and culturing for them to
reach maturity.
These in conjunction with the meticulous day to day
activities of fry production, where advancements have not been published
even in other countries. Even after perfecting these initial stages of a full-
cycle hatchery, it took a significant amount of time to grow our stocks to
marketable size; finally, after reaching commercial scale, we had to improve
on the quality of our products to compete with the highest standards set by
wild caught stocks.
After all these, in 2013, we slowly penetrated the China
market with our consistent and quality production.
To this date, PAC is the first and only full cycle hatchery in the Philippines that is able to
produce quality live Humpback Grouper at
commercial scale.
